Christophe Dugarry has become the latest Paris Saint-Germain figure to wade into to the controversy surrounding Edinson Cavani and Neymar’s penalty dispute this weekend.
The pair appeared to disagree over who should take a penalty during their 2-0 win over Lyon this weekend, with Cavani eventually missing from the spot.
“Neymar is already the star at PSG, who has won LaLiga, the Champions League and everything else”, said Dugarry.
“He is a great player, who will become the coach of PSG, and not due to his 222 million euro fee, but because Unai Emery needs to intervene, otherwise he will soon do the training and picking the team.”
Dugarry also expressed his concern that Cavani is not receiving the respect that he deserves, following his loyal service to the club.
“[Cavani is] always smiling, kind and respectful, unlike Ibrahimovic, who made his leadership clear from day one,” noted the Frenchman.
“Cavani has been with the club for four years, and although he will not stay forever, veterans deserve respect.”
